The Reviews for Flight of the Living Dead: Outbreak on a Plane (2007) 1080p

After Resisting, I Watched It... And Loved It!Reviewed bygavin6942Vote: 7/10

On a flight from Los Angeles to Paris, a mad scientist on the run from the CIA is transporting a special container: a woman infected with a virus that was designed to be a biological weapon. When she escapes her restraints, every man, woman and child is in danger of becoming a flesh-eating member of the mile high club.

What I find interesting about this film is how much I went through great lengths to avoid it. I saw advertisements on the internet and turned away. I saw it at my local video store and couldn't bring myself to rent it (instead picking up "Dead Silence"). My problem was that I figured there's no way you can knock off "Night of the Living Dead" (a classic) and "Snakes on a Plane" (a train wreck) at the same time and possibly have a decent film. Then it shows up in my mail a few days later from my editor, and I am doomed to review it. Giving in to fate (why fight it?) I watched "Flight" the same night... and loved almost every minute of it.

The only connection to "Night of the Living Dead" is the inclusion of zombies. But these are closer to "Return of the Living Dead" zombies, I would imagine, because they are caused by a virus to be used as a weapon by the military, rather than from some alien source (if I recall the mythologies correctly). But it has many of the elements of "Snakes on a Plane" -- only done better. The celebrity (a golf pro), the flight crew, the couple in the bathroom... this film surpasses "Snakes", despite the fact "Snakes" has more nudity and Sam Jackson's immortal line.

The crew and passengers are faced off against the military and zombies, a criminal, as well as a massive storm. So you have a fair share of both internal and external conflicts and threats. Any one of them could kill every one on board. And unlike the snakes, you don't just see another snake every few minutes -- the variety of problems in this film keeps the adrenaline pumping and the suspense at a peak.

There was some subplot about budding romance and another one about cheating lovers. But fortunately these never really go anywhere. I think they would have been distracting and cliché, so I was pleased to see them take a back seat to the action. I like action and I like cogent, clever films... I don't have time for excessive relationships in my horror, thank you.

Let me finish up by saying the blood and gore is pretty darn good. You get your blood, you get your gore. And for the low budget, they do a pretty impressive job with it. Faces half ripped off, body parts missing... jugulars torn from throats. Oh, don't worry. They didn't try to make this half-donkeyed by any means. You get what you paid for -- plenty of zombies overflowing on a plane.

Let down by "Snakes on a Plane"? Love zombies? Love confined spaces to be fighting horrible creatures? Love action? I think you'll really dig this picture. Granted, I was probably partially drunk at the time, but it made my night in a way no other film could have done. It's worth the rent and maybe even the purchase (the two commentary tracks make this three films in one)...

Cargo CultReviewed byradiobirdmaVote: 6/10

The idea George Romero never had: Take big 70s blockbuster cheese like "Airport", put a few undead in the cargo hold - and now let's talk disaster movies. "Plane Dead" works surprisingly well, slowly building tension in the first half hour before crew and passengers notice that it's not WALL-E hiding in the ?basement". Director Scott Thomas gets the max out of his limited budget: The movie seldom looks like a cheapo, the special effects are more than just decent, and you might recognize a few familiar faces (Kevin J. O'Connor, Dale Midkiff, Richard Tyson) among the living. In the realm of an undead and meanwhile mostly inanimate genre, ?Plane Dead" ranks undoubtedly among the livelier efforts.

Zombie Lovers Appreciate All Zombie Movies!!Reviewed byTuathaDaDanaanVote: 8/10

I quite enjoyed this movie...the only thing I found disagreeable was the ending...I foresaw a completely different ending and was disappointed that they went the way they did with it!! I appreciated the humour in the movie...Kevin O'Connor does what he does best...your never quite sure if you should trust the man...the story lines that introduce the characters were well written...except for the girlfriend with the headphones...she wasn't believable and you find your hoping she gets bit just so you don't have to watch her performance any longer! I thought the idea about zombies on a plane hilarious at first and expected it to be campy but it delivered and zombie lovers will enjoy this film!!
